Oregon SAF Hosts Second Annual Trail Run

On October 4th, the Oregon Society of American Foresters will host its second annual evening trail run, the SAFsquatch Scurry. Run with a forester on a 5k or 10k race, both starting and ending in Peavy Arboretum. Funds raised will benefit the Oregon Society of American Foresters, which is the largest state affiliate of the National Society of American Foresters, representing over 800 Oregonians in forestry and natural resources professions.

Coos SAF Chapter Virtual Meeting - Are Battery-Electric Log Trucks the Future in Mountainous Terrain in the Pacific Northwest

Umpqua SAF Chapter Virtual Meeting - Trees to Tap Presentation

For the May meeting, the Umpqua SAF Chapter virtual meeting features Jon Souder with OSU Extension giving a mini "Trees to Tap" presentation.

Coos Virtual SAF Chapter Meeting - Legal Descriptions in the Public Land Survey System

This month chapter meeting features Edith Forkner, a land surveyor with the BLM Oregon State Office – Cadastral. She will present on Legal Descriptions in the Public Land Survey System.

Portland SAF Virtual Chapter Meeting - The International Society of Tropical Foresters and Carbon Market Access

This month features two presentations. Michael Sterner with El Programa Hispano Catolico will discuss the re-emergence of the International Society of Tropical Foresters and its relevance to Oregon Society of American Foresters. Afterwards, Sean Hart, with Forest Carbon Works will discuss carbon market access for private woodland owners in the United States.

Blue Mountain Virtual SAF Chapter Meeting - Forest Carbon Works

For the Blue Mountain chapter's April meeting, we will be joined by Sean Hart, regional forester for Forest Carbon Works. Sean will discuss carbon market access for private woodland owners and highlighting some of their projects on the east-side. Forest Carbon Works (FCW) is a public benefit company working to distill the complex processes for developing a carbon project into a simple membership service, creating easy access to the carbon market for private woodland owners throughout the US.

Umpqua SAF Virtual Chapter Meeting - Fire Season Forecast 2021 and National Board Update

The Umpqua SAF chapter's April meeting features two speakers: Nick Yonker will give a presentation titled "Fire Season Forecast 2021," and Mark Buckbee will give a presentation titled "National Board of Directors Report." Nick is Oregon Department of Forestry's Meteorology and Smoke Management Program Manager. Mark Buckbee is a board member who represents District 2.

Central Oregon Virtual SAF Chapter Meeting - Oregon's Smoke Management for Prescribed & Wildland Fires.

For the Central Oregon SAF chapter's April meeting, Margaret Miller from the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality will present on Oregon's Smoke Management for Prescribed & Wildland Fires. Margaret is also a member of the Portland SAF chapter.
